Settings

These settings are all contained in the Options menu, and should be pretty easy to follow! As you might expect, they’re persistent across sessions in the resources/global/txt/xml/userdata/Settings.xml file.

Language

Language selection takes place in the “Select Language” submenu, shockingly enough. All installed language packs are available here, and can be swapped without needing to restart the program. If you want to learn more about language packs, check out the translation page.

Game Mode

This submenu allows you to select the game mode for the editor from those that you have installed. If you only have the Core Resource Pack for Awakening or Fates, only that game will be available. If you have both, you can swap between modes here.

Play Sound

This lets you mute or unmute the editor. Please note that if you unmute it after a conversation has triggered a BGM, it will not be played unless you reload the conversation.

Automatically Convert Text to Script

This option was mentioned on the Scripts page, and all of the warnings given there still apply. To recap:

While text-to-script conversion has been tested fairly extensively and should work perfectly in all cases for messages generated by the editor itself, I cannot guarantee that no edge cases still exist that could cause problems. After performing a conversion of an existing message, please quickly run through it in the simulator to verify that everything still displays properly if it contained any complex combinations of text controls codes (particularly in the case of the unknown ones). If it does not work, use CTRL + Z to restore it to the text state and file an issue containing the text that failed conversion and the game that it is from.

Automatic conversion will also slow down the opening of large files — in almost every case, it is better to simply directly convert messages as you access them to work on them.

Show Background

This simple option toggles the display of the background in conversations.

If it is on, a default background will be displayed. This background can be replaced by dragging the desired background image onto the simulation display.

If it is off, there will be no background and any images saved will transparent backgrounds.
